One thing I’d do in Lewisham
My pick
Walk the GreenWay through Lewisham, then get a coffee at Maia near the station.
Join at Lewisham West light rail and head into the Mills precinct: heritage industrial buildings, the canal and an off-leash dog area. Then walk back toward the train station for Maia, a tiny royal-blue specialty coffee spot on the corner of Victoria Street, in the old Trainspotting Café site.

The property side
- Housing mix: 57.0% apartments, 28.6% freestanding houses, 13.2% semis and terraces, in a suburb of about 4,000 people.
- Pockets: the Lewisham Estate heritage conservation area and its sub-precincts; The Boulevarde; Hudson Street; the Long Cove Creek railway viaducts.
- Transport: Lewisham station on the Inner West lines, plus two light rail stops, Lewisham West and Taverners Hill.
- Schools in and around the suburb include Lewisham Public, Christian Brothers’ High and Trinity Grammar’s infants school. Catchments are address-specific, so check yours on NSW School Finder.
- My recent Lewisham result: 35 Old Canterbury Road, a street record.
