One thing I’d do in Hurlstone Park
My pick
Walk the Cooks River, especially the stretch toward Ewen Park.
The river is the suburb’s southern edge, and the Cooks River cycleway runs along it. Ewen Park is the biggest park in Hurlstone Park: two playing fields, home to the Hurlstone Park Wanderers soccer club, with cricket in summer. It sits on the Canterbury-Bankstown side of the council line.

The property side
- Housing mix: 53.4% freestanding houses, 30.8% apartments, 13.1% semis and terraces. More than a third of homes are owned outright.
- Pockets: the Crinan Street shops with their original façades; low-rise period homes on tree-lined streets; taller apartment blocks along Canterbury and New Canterbury roads.
- Transport: Hurlstone Park station is part of the Sydney Metro conversion. Check Sydney Metro for current status. Buses run along Canterbury and New Canterbury roads.
- Schools: catchments are address-specific, so check yours on NSW School Finder.
- My recent Hurlstone Park result: 12/118-122 Canterbury Road, $680,000.
